An official from Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) has announced that the Anka, a Turkish-made medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) class unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), is ready to be deployed in multiple countries.
According to Chief Product Engineer Ziya Dogan, Anka drones will be shipped to four countries this year. One country is already actively using the Anka drones, while an export deal has been signed with another country for delivery in 2024.
The Anka UAV, which first flew in 2010, has accumulated a total flight time of 200,000 hours for domestic customers. TAI, based in Ankara, is involved in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles, aircraft, helicopters, satellites, and their components. The establishment of TAI in 1973 aimed to reduce Turkey’s reliance on foreign suppliers.
