Rescue teams are shifting their focus to an area where underwater noises have been detected as they search for a missing submersible in the Atlantic Ocean. While the origin of these noises remains unknown, Captain Jamie Frederick emphasizes the ongoing hope for rescuing the five individuals on board.
The Canadian aircraft initially detected the noises on Tuesday, and they continued to be heard on Wednesday. Experts are working to identify the described “banging noises” and unravel the mystery. The vessel, named Titan, is operated by OceanGate Expeditions and embarks on an expedition to explore the Titanic wreckage site.
The passengers include individuals from various countries, and they had around 16 hours of oxygen remaining as of Wednesday. The extensive search operation involves deploying additional assets such as ships, aircraft, and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to navigate the challenges posed by the vastness of the ocean.
