Facilities under the control of the terror group PKK/YPG in Iraq and Syria are considered “legitimate targets” by the Turkish Armed Forces, as stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. He emphasized Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and the identification of two terrorists who came from Syria as the latest development.
Fidan declared, “All infrastructure and energy facilities belonging to the PKK/YPG in Iraq and Syria are now considered legitimate targets for our security forces, armed forces, and intelligence units.”
He also issued a warning to unspecified third parties to keep their distance from PKK/YPG facilities.
Following the recent terrorist attack in Ankara, where one suicide bomber detonated explosives, and another was killed by security forces, the Turkish Interior Ministry confirmed their affiliation with the PKK terrorist group.
In response, Türkiye conducted two air operations in northern Iraq, targeting 36 terror-related sites. The operations, carried out with precision, destroyed various locations used by the PKK terror group, including shelters, caves, tunnels, ammunition depots, and headquarters.
The PKK is known for using northern Iraq, near the Turkish border, as a base for planning terrorist activities.
